In this video, Jeannie Sanchez discusses what is known about Jane Stickle and her quilt, from a 2017 presentation she gave. Knowing that little bit more about Jane adds so much life to this quilt.
I also found a link to a larger discussion on the Jane from the Bennington Museum here. It reports the blocks are five inches, and Jane was bedridden at the time of making the quilt. I definitely recommend spending a few minutes to read through the article and see the photos, including closeups and the back of the original.
